Find an answer
The User Guide covers setup, including getting a TMDb API key and what to do when search finds nothing. Its FAQ answers the most common questions.
Contact
- Bugs and feature requests: open an issue on GitHub. Check whether someone has already reported it, and add to their issue if so.
- Anything else, including privacy questions: email [email protected]. Email works for bug reports too, if you don’t have a GitHub account.
AniShelf is made by one developer in their spare time, so replies can take a few days.
Report a bug
A good bug report includes:
- your AniShelf version, shown in Settings › About AniShelf
- your device, and its iOS, iPadOS, or macOS version
- what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
- screenshots or a screen recording, if you can take them
Never include your TMDb API key. It isn’t needed to investigate a problem.
If AniShelf can’t open your library
When AniShelf can’t read its database, it shows Library Recovery Required. It keeps a copy of the unreadable files on your device and starts you with an empty library. A backup or iCloud Sync may help you get your data back.
To have the problem investigated, email the developer and attach an export from that screen:
- Export Diagnostic creates a short report with the error details, the app and system versions, and file names and sizes.
- Export Recovery Bundle also includes the preserved database, so it can contain your library and notes. Share it only if you’re comfortable sending that data.
Nothing is uploaded automatically. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Support development
AniShelf is free and has no ads. If you’d like to support its development, you can leave a tip: open Settings and tap Support AniShelf.
